We would like to welcome you
to Henry World School. We will be your
child’s 6th grade core teachers.
Mr. Plesko will teach math and science and Miss McCormick will teach
language arts and geography. We are very
excited to begin a new year with you and your child!
In order for your child to
have a successful year, we need your help in a few areas. The main reason a student is unsuccessful is
due to not turning in work. Please
provide a quiet place and consistent time for your child to complete his/her
homework. If a student did not complete his/her homework, that same day the
student will receive an after school detention, where he/she will work on the
assignment. Assignments will not be
accepted after that day unless he/she is absent. If a student is absent, they
are responsible for getting their missed work.
Students are required to
write their homework in their planners everyday. If there is no homework for a class, students
will write “no homework” in the space.
Please check their planners regularly to see if they have homework and
to determine if they are staying on track in their classes.
It is very important for
students to be organized. Every student
must have a 3-inch, 3 ring binder with 8
dividers for their classes. All of
their work should be placed in the binder.
Please check your child’s binder periodically to make sure it is
maintained and organized.
Please encourage your child
to talk to us if he/she is having trouble.
We are always willing to answer questions in class and provide
additional help before or after school.
The student will need to make an appointment with us in order to receive
help before or after school.
We will be having a potluck
here at Henry for the Avalanche core and their families. This is a social time for you to meet us and
other families in our core. There will
also be Back to School night Thursday September 13th at 6:30pm. We will send out more information on these
events soon.
Please feel free to contact
us with any questions. Email works best,
but you can also call and leave a message on our voicemails. We will return your email or call within 48
hours. If you would like to have a
conference with us about your child’s progress, we are able to meet with you by
appointment.
We look forward to a
wonderful year and encourage you to visit any time! Thank you for your support
and help. On the attached sheet you will
see a supply list. Students must have
these materials in order to be successful.
Also please sign the bottom portion of this letter and have your student
return it to us. You can also visit our class blog at http://avalanchecore.blogspot.com
